Socio-Pedagogical Faculty was founded in February 1984 (its original name was Faculty of Preschool Education).
Students are trained in the following specialties:
At the 1st stage:
- ‘Preschool education’,
- ‘Social work’ (socio-psychological activities and socio-pedagogical activities),
- ‘Speech therapy’,
- ‘Social Pedagogy’.
At the 2nd stage (master's degree):
- 'Scientific and pedagogical activity'
In total, 39 teachers work at the faculty: 27 of them have academic degrees and titles (9 Professors, 18 Associate Professors).
There are 2 scientific schools at the faculty:
‘Practical psychology of childhood’ (supervisor Professor I. Valitova)
‘Psychology of the cognizer’ (supervisor E. Medvedskaya.)
Faculty teachers maintain contacts with scientific, pedagogical and educational centers of the country and abroad.
Socio-Pedagogical Faculty is a friendly team of teachers and students - future educators of preschool education institutions, speech therapists, social work specialists - psychologists; it is an opportunity to realize their research abilities as part of student scientific associations; it is an exciting and vivid leisure; it is an active participation in the Volunteer Club ‘Academy of Volunteering’.
Students of the faculty occupy leading positions in competitions of various levels: the competition of freshmen creativity ‘Art Session’, the open university reciters competition ‘Secrets of words and thoughts’, contests ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘The best study group’, ‘KVN’. The faculty is rich in traditions - competitions of teaching skills, Christmas performances for children of students and teachers, charity events in children's centers, homes and hospitals, folklore holidays.
All conditions for the participation of students in scientific student conferences at various levels have been created. Brand events in which students take an active part are the annual Republican scientific and practical conferences of students and undergraduates ‘Professional support for personality development’, ‘Educational environment as a factor for the formation of general and professional culture of the individual’; university scientific and practical conferences ‘Personality and society: problems of interaction’, ‘Groups of social risk: socio-moral, psychological, mental and physical health’. During the Days of Student Science (annually in April) many diverse events are held: scientific essay competitions, intellectual competitions, conferences, exhibitions of student research projects, scientific and practical seminars, taking into account the capabilities of students of different courses, their specialties. Students of the faculty have the opportunity to publish their research not only at our university, but also at other universities of the Republic of Belarus, such as universities of Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan. The research work of students is carried out in 14 student research associations.
