The Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology was established on 1 September 2025 as a result of the merger of two faculties: socio-pedagogical and psychological-pedagogical.
The faculty begins its history in 1957, when the speciality «Pedagogy and Methodology of Primary Education» was opened at the Faculty of Language and Literature. In 1969, the Faculty of Language and Literature and Primary Teacher Training was divided into two independent faculties: the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Pedagogy. In connection with the opening of the speciality «Psychology» at the Faculty of Pedagogy in 1999, the faculty was renamed the Psychological-Pedagogical Faculty. The Socio-Pedagogical Faculty dates back to 1 February 1984, when the Faculty of Preschool Education was established. In 1982, the first cohort of students was enrolled in the speciality «Pedagogy and Preschool Psychology» for full-time and part-time study. The students were admitted to the Faculty of Primary Education. The first graduation of specialists took place in 1986. In 2006, in connection with the opening of new specialities, the faculty was renamed the Socio-Pedagogical Faculty.
