VII Republican scientific-practical conference of students, Master’s Degree and PhD students "Criminal justice: law, theory and practice"

On November 4, 2016 at Brest State A.S. Pushkin University VII Republican scientific-practical conference of students, Master’s Degree and PhD students "Criminal justice: law, theory and practice" took place, which has already become traditional. The event was organized by the Department of Criminal-legal Disciplines.

The plenary session was opened by Vice-rector on Science and Economics of Brest State A.S. Pushkin University, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Alexander Evgen’evich Bud’ko. In his opening address he emphasized, that all conditions for successful career development and productive research work of students and teachers were created at University. He noted as well the importance of conferences for students and Master’s Degree students and encouraged also young researchers to continue their scientific activities in PhD courses.

The dean of the Law Faculty of Brest State A.S. Pushkin University, PhD in Philosophical sciences, Associate Professor Elena Grigorovich addressed the complimentary speech to the participants of the conference. She noted that the Law Faculty would traditionally occupy the leading position at University on the key indicators of the student research works and many successful graduates would continue to teach at their faculty.

At the plenary meeting the reports of Master’s Degree students and the students of the Law Faculty of the University attracted great interest: P.A. Volod’ko ("The Principles of legality and fairness in the criminal law of the Republic of Belarus"), A.O. Zhuk ("The direct object of infection with venereal disease and HIV infection"), S.A. Zalevskaya ("The delimitation of copyright infringement from the illegal usage of computer information"), D.A. Lazarevich ("Victimization of the victim behavior as a condition for the commission of pickpocketing"), E.E. Demidchik ("Actual crime in the context of the assessment of latency"), I.V. Losev ("Causing damage to the property with no signs of theft: the directions of improvement of the criminal law"), V.E. Manets ("Hostage-taking and its difference from the human abduction"), A.R. Romashewskaya ("The concept and content of the institute of pre-trial cooperation agreement"), J.A. Shostak ("The stage of the appeal proceedings (concept, meaning, essence)"). All the speakers of the plenary meeting were awarded with diplomas, as they demonstrated a deep knowledge of the stated themes and a high level of public speaking skills.

After the plenary meeting the work of the conference was organized in four sections, where the problems of criminal law, criminology, criminal proceeding, prosecutorial oversight, criminalistics and the problems of operative investigative activities were discussed. According to the results of the sections’ work the best speakers were determined, who received diplomas for their conducted research works and presentation of the reports.

In total the conference was attended by 140 people, including lecturers, PhD students, Master’s Degree students and students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The conference materials will be published on the results of work.

The discussion of the most important issues of criminal justice contributes to the educational and professional competencies of all conference participants. Therefore, the importance of such events for the students of our university can hardly be overestimated.
