The 3rd year student of the speciality “Jurisprudence” (Faculty of Law) Alina Osipova took the second place in the judicial oratory contest which was held in Belarusian State Economic University in the frames of the event “VII Readings in memory of Sapieha” on November 20–21, 2012.

Law students who prepared speeches of either a claimant or defendant debated ardently and put on act civil process within the judicial oratory contest. The contest provided them with an opportunity not only to demonstrate their oratorical skills, but also to check their knowledge in the sphere of law.

Readings in memory of Sapieha are held by the Faculty of Law of Belarusian State Economic University annually; it’s a complex of events, one of which is an international scientific and research conference. This year the conference theme is put as “Development of Civil Law’s institutes in the legislation of the Republic of Belarus from 1529 Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to 1998 Civil Code of the Republic of Belarus”. The choice is not accidental as this year it’ll be 480 years since the first codification of laws has been adopted on the territory of Belarus and Europe; it’s the Statute of 1529 which regulated relationships of Civil Law and separate institutes of Civil Law.

It’s notable that since 2008 undergraduates from Ukraine, Russia, Moldova have been interested in Readings in memory of Sapieha, so the Event has got an international status.
