Creative workshop for international students worked at BrSU

On April 14, the creative workshop "Easter Painting as a reflection of the cultural traditions of Belarusians" brought together Chinese students and undergraduates from the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, and the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports.

The head of the Dialogue of Cultures club association, Zinaida Stepanovna Levchuk, told the participants of the creative workshop about the origin of Easter, the symbols and significance of religious and folk holidays in the Belarusian national culture.

Easter celebrations have a long history in the traditional culture of Belarusians. This is the main Christian holiday, symbolizing the victory of goodness and the establishment of life on earth. The custom of painting eggs and baking Easter cakes originated in the pre-Christian period and is associated with the ancient pagan holiday of the meeting of spring. For many peoples, the egg was a symbol of fertility and rebirth.

Representatives of the People's Republic of China, under the guidance of Marina Vladimirovna Marchuk, master of the folk creative workshop of fine and decorative arts and crafts "Armband", mastered the technique of painting Easter eggs. For representatives of the Celestial Empire, Easter egg painting turned out to be a difficult technique. Belarusian students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology actively helped foreign students. Each participant received a painted souvenir as a gift.
