Solar eclipse 2015

On March 20, 2015 students of the Department of Physics and Mathematics of Brest State A.S. Pushkin University witnessed from 12 a.m. till 1.15 p.m. the solar eclipse guided by the assistant professor of the Department of Theoretical physics Sekerzhitsky Stanislav Stanislavovich.

The telescope was located before the entrance to the main building to the University and the image of the solar disk shadowed by the Moon was projected on the screen. A full-scope solar eclipse could be seen this year in the Faroe Islands (Denmark) and Spitsbergen (Norway). In Brest only partial eclipse could be seen. At the moment of the maximum phase (around 1 p.m. local time) the Moon shadowed near 70 percent of the solar disk. Together with the students of the Department of Physics and Mathematics this phenomenon was observed by students and tutors from other departments and also passers-by.
