Pinsk – Youth Capital of the Republic of Belarus – 2020

From 29 to 31 January Pinsk hosted talented and initiative young people from all over the country. Over 500 people visited one of the largest youth holidays “Pinsk – Youth Capital of the Republic of Belarus – 2020”.

The delegation of Brest region included representatives of Brest State A. S. Pushikin University: Tatiana Sokolova – Vice-Rector for Educational Work; Maxim Ozarchuk – Secretary of the P/A BRSM with the rights of RK UO Brest State A. S. Pushkin University; Matvei Shved – member of the public republican student council under the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, a third year student of the Department of History; Ilya Ogrenich – administrator of the official university group VKontakte “I love BrSU”, a 2^nd year student of the Department of Philology; Angelina Fursevich – commander of the volunteer team “NEXT”, a third year student of the Department of Philology.

The programme of the event was colorful and intense. The forum began with a requiem rally, which was dedicated to the 75^th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. I. V. Karpenko, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, V. A. Liskovich, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the delegation of our University and other participants of the forum honoured the memory of the fallen soldiers during the liberation of the town of Pinsk with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the Memorial Complex to the Pinsk liberators. Then the City House of Culture hosted the opening ceremony of the national holiday “Pinsk - Youth Capital of the Republic of Belarus – 2020” and the national forum #BelarusYouthInitiative. The central highlight of the event was the transfer of the relay race of the Youth Capital from Orsha to Pinsk (by the way, Pinsk is the fifth town that has accepted this title). The youth capitals were already Baranovichi, Polotsk, Mogilev and Orsha.

Minister of Education Igor Karpenko awarded the best educational institutions. Our university was awarded a diploma “For the introduction of innovative forms of socio-cultural communications, the formation of value relations to the historical and cultural heritage and active participation in the national cultural and educational campaign dedicated to the Year of the Small Motherland”.

Also on the stage of the Pinsk City Cultural Centre the national festival of artistic creativity of pupils and students “ART-Vakatsyi-2020” started, and the winners of the prize “For Spiritual Revival” Yulia Bykova and Evgeny Oleinik presented a new national art competition “Songs of My Country”.

The guests of the holiday had an opportunity to visit numerous interactive platforms of the Republican Forum #BelarusYouthInitiative.

As part of the forum were held: a meeting of the Public Republican Student Council, meetings with members of youth parliaments, youth ambassadors of the CSD, an interactive presentation of the activities of the Republican Volunteer Center. An educational seminar “University 3.0 and State Youth Policy in the Republic of Belarus” was held for pro-rectors on educational work.

At the end of the day for student leaders was organized musical and entertaining programme "Dance marathon “#STUDance”.

On the last day of the forum, participants continued discussing important issues in their master classes. The promotion of the youth YouTube channel was discussed, as well as issues of concern to the student councils of each university. The forum ended with an excursion program “Pinsk is the town of nine centuries...”
