Under the guise of benevolence: the Festival of Volunteer Groups was held at Brest State A.S. Pushkin University

On December 5 at Brest State A.S. Pushkin University the festival of volunteer groups "Volunteering for the benefit of society" was held. The volunteer festival was abounding with creativity, warm words and awards.

The Rector of the university A.N. Sender addressed the complimentary speech emphasizing the importance of volunteer movement in the contemporary world. She also thanked the volunteer groups for their acts of kindness.

Interestingly, Brest State A.S. Pushkin University has initiated the volunteer movement in the higher educational institutions of our country. Currently in BrSU there are 19 volunteer groups including more than 800 people. During the presentation of their activities the leaders of the volunteer groups made a short excursion into the history of the university volunteerism and gave the insight into the essence of such activities. "Kind Heart", "Reach Out your Hand", "Generous Hearts", "Magic Childhood" – these and the other volunteer associations of the university cooperate actively and worthily with various university organizations, helping socially vulnerable strata of the society, carrying out acts of charity, raising funds for the people in need and participating in the environmental projects, etc. For example, on the International Volunteer Day the funds, raised through selling sweets, were transferred to the Children’s Shelter in Brest.

The event was attended by the partners of the volunteer movement. The Chairwoman of the Brest organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society N.V. Savanevskaya awarded the Diploma to the Vice-rector for Educational work of Brest State A.S. Pushkin University T.V. Sokolova, the author of the project "School of the First Aid". The awards were presented to the volunteer groups, as well as to the individual students.
