University has been given Belarus Government Quality Excellence Award

On April 13, 2017, the solemn ceremony of awarding the Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality was held in the National Library of Belarus by Prime Minister Andrei V. Kobyakov. The Commission for awarding Belarus Government Quality Excellence Prize decided to name ten organizations of the republic as the winners of the 2016 award, among which there was Educational Establishment “Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin”. Furthermore, the award has been given to 16 organizations that received it in previous years, one company got a diploma, three organizations were honored with special prizes.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the year 2016 summed up the results of a five-year program of the country's social and economic development and marked the beginning of a new five-year term. In this regard, the companies were tasked with evaluating their achievements, analyzing mistakes and drawing up development strategies for the next five years. “The winners whom we celebrate today have successfully fulfilled these tasks”, the Prime Minister noted.

Andrei Kobyakov stated that to improve the competitiveness and increase the country's export of goods and services, the government adopted a set of measures for 2016-2020 to facilitate the implementation of advanced methods and cutting-edge international quality management systems in the Belarusian economy. The Prime Minister said, “The winners have been actively working in this direction”.

The Prime Minister pointed out that 2017 was declared the Year of Science in Belarus. “The Belarusian Head of State signed the relevant decree to highlight the role of science in achieving the social and economic development objectives and promoting the international image of Belarus as a country with considerable intellectual and human capital”, Andrei Kobyakov said.

The innovative development of the country relies on domestically designed solutions created at research centers and institutions of higher education as well. “As they respond to the needs of the time, the award winners Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Grodno State Medical University, and Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin actively encourage their students of various fields of study to conduct scientific and research work. This contributes to training modern specialists able to design innovative products and advanced technologies”, the Prime Minister stated.

Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Igor V. Karpenko, who took part in the solemn ceremony of awarding the Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality, noted the effectiveness of master's theses and graduation works of students in the field of management quality, which were also encouraged by the Government.

At the solemn ceremony of awarding the Government Prize for achievements in the field of quality Brest State University named after А.S. Pushkin was represented by Rector of the university, Doctor of Pedagogical sciences, Professor Anna N. Sender and Head of the Personnel Department of the university Elena A. Bobrova.

Competition for Belarus Government Quality Excellence Award has been held since 1999. The main criteria of participation consist in achieving significant results in quality assurance and competitiveness of products and services, market expansion, using advanced management methods and modern technologies, as well as satisfaction of the consumer needs.

The Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality is the highest award that can be received by the organization that has achieved significant success in the competitive production and services, proficiency in highly effective management methods and advanced technologies.
