Professor of the Brest State A.S. Pushkin University represented the Republic of Belarus at IOV World General Assembly 2019

On 1–4 April in the United Arab Emirates (Sharjah) under the patronage of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations economic and social Council (ECOSOC) the world General Assembly of the International organization of folk art (IOV) was held.

An important place in the agenda of the Assembly was given to the International Scientific Conference IOV “Folk Culture: Present and Future”, which was organized by the Scientific Commission IOV together with the Sharjah Institute for Heritage.

Assembly participants focused on the scientific issues of functioning and transformation of various types of folk culture in modern life, the correlation of folklore and art (cinema, theatre, music, video games), the impact of modern technology and the media on traditional culture, etc.

At this forum the Republic of Belarus was represented by Professor of the Brest State A.S. Pushkin University, Shved Inna Anatolievna – member of the IOV Scientific Committee. She made a report on “Belarusian modern children's folklore”, introduced the culture and traditions of the Belarusian people, as well as the latest achievements in the field of national Ethnology and Folklore to the world scientific community.
